Science – Forces

This half term we have begun to look at forces in our Science lessons. We have been investigating the force of friction and its effect on a toy car on different surfaces.

In our investigation we worked in groups to measure the height of the ramp to make it a fair test and mark a starting point for our toy car to begin.  We use ramps with different materials; cooking oil, polystyrene, cling film, wood and tin foil and once we checked the ramps height was correct rolled the toy car down each of the ramps measuring the distance travelled each time. We then reflected on our predictions we had made before our investigation. Which ramp showed the least friction? Which ramp showed the most impact caused by friction?
