Nursery – Hedgehogs

Welcome to the Hedgehogs class page!

The staff in the Hedgehogs class are Mr. Pinkney (Teacher) and Mrs. Laidler (Early Years Practitioner).

Children learn through play with a balance of planned purposeful adult led and child initiated activities allowing children to learn, develop and practice new skills.  We also participate in PE and dance lessons in our gym, weekly visits to the ICT suite, as well as engaging in activities in our DT, Art and sensory room.

Nursery children take home a reading pack each week to enjoy with an adult at home. As their learning progresses children will also have additional activities to complete at home for example, learning letters sounds.

Activities are planned following the children’s interests for example, dinosaurs, pirates, or a favourite story.  Trips are also planned to enhance the children’s learning and to give them exciting experiences.  Past trips have included the park, a garden centre, the farm, the city centre and the beach.

Our Nursery classes share a large outdoor area with free flow access.  Children play outside in all weathers dressed appropriately in waterproofs, wellies, sun hats etc. Outside, children enjoy using the tyre park, trim trail, climbing house, orchard, dipping pond and wilderness garden.

Caterpillar – Hedgehogs

The children really enjoy the actions for this song, especially the wiggling! They learn anticipating and understanding song structure.
