Nursery – Hedgehogs

Welcome to the Hedgehogs class page!

The staff in the Hedgehog class this year are Mr Pinkney (Teacher) and Miss Smith (Early Years Practitioner).

Children learn through play with a balance of planned purposeful adult led and child initiated activities allowing children to learn, develop and practice new skills.  We also participate in PE and dance lessons in our gym, weekly visits to the ICT suite, as well as engaging in activities in our DT, Art and sensory room.

We are very lucky to have three ‘In Harmony’ music sessions a week, taught by Ryan a specialist music teacher from the Sage.

Nursery children take home a reading pack each week to enjoy with an adult at home. As their learning progresses, children may on occasion have additional activities to complete at home such as letter sounds.

Activities are planned following the children’s interests for example dinosaurs, pirates, the weather or a favourite story. Trips will be planned to enhance the children’s learning and to give them exciting experiences. Past trips have included the park, farm and beach!

Caterpillar – Hedgehogs

The children really enjoy the actions for this song, especially the wiggling! They learn anticipating and understanding song structure.
