Black History Month

Black history is an important part of our history. However, despite their countless contributions to society the achievements of black people have often been overlooked or forgotten, this is why we celebrate black history month in school.  The children have an opportunity to learn about different famous people and what role they have played in shaping our history in areas like science, music, sport, engineering, human rights and medicine, to list a few.

Year 1 leant about Rosa Parks

Year 2 learnt about Mary Seacole

Year 3+4 took part in an assembly and they talked about famous black women from history, for example Rosa Parks, Mary Seacole, Halle Berry.

Year 5 chose a famous black person from history and designed a poster with facts about them.
