If you would like to be a part of Friends of Bridgewater, either as part of the Management Committee or by providing your time to volunteer at events, we would be delighted to hear from you.
What we do:
Provide professional support, through external organisations, to those children and families within our school who require such support.
Organise and promote extra-curricular, out-of-school activities for children and their families.
Provide social activities to promote community cohesion.
Projects we are currently involved with:
Road safety around schools. Partnered with WECC (West End Children’s Community).
Food poverty. Partnered with WECC.
Termly school fairs (Christmas, Easter & Summer).
Pre-loved school uniform.
Courses for adults focusing on wellbeing, budgeting and maths.
Events we have delivered:
International Women’s Day Walk 2024
Walked 8 miles from Newcastle to Gateshead, raising money for school funds.
Small Change Can Make A Big Difference 2019
Fill a small milk bottle with loose change.
The Big Challenge 2017
A 5-mile walk from Bridgewater to Gateshead Stadium and then sleeping outside overnight.
We raised approximately £4,500 (approximately £3,500 after costs).
The Big Walk 2016
A 15-mile sponsored walk from Bridgewater to Tynemouth
We raised approximately £13,500 (approximately £12,000 after costs).
We were also delighted to have received a grant of £2,200 from St James’ Place Foundation.

We were also very proud to organise and deliver the launch event for our fabulous metal archway at the entrance of the wildlife garden.
